You may be <strong>dropped<\/strong> from the <strong>class if you don&#8217;t attend class for<\/strong> <strong>two weeks or if you don\u2019t attend six classes<\/strong>. Please message or email me if you can&#8217;t come to class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Behavior<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be respectful of others and their ideas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be on time for class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t bring any friends or family members to class. Students must be enrolled in the class to attend the class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If students are disrespectful to anyone in any way, those students can be asked to leave the class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be sure to attend class on time. o Hand-in assignments on the due date at the beginning of class. o No cheating or plagiarism in this course. o Other than DSPS services, there is no recording of anyone on any device during class unless the student gives permission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t come to class sick. You should move to the next level the following semester. (This includes \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d or \u201cC\u201d grades.)<\/td><td><strong>Satisfactory Pass<\/strong> Below 70% overall average for all assessments, assigned activities, and homework from first day of attendance, with mostly active participation. (This includes&nbsp; non-passing \u201cF\u201d grades.)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Integrity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cheating:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are <strong>not<\/strong> to copy each other\u2019s quizzes\/tests\/exams, homework, and any\/all assignments. You need to do your own work. If you copy someone else\u2019s quiz\/test\/exam and homework, you will receive an \u201cF\u201d on the quiz\/test\/exam and homework or any assignment. No speaking during exams and no copying someone else\u2019s exam. You can\u2019t use cheat notes, write on your desk or any other item to assist you with the test unless recommended by the instructor. There will be a special seating chart on quiz\/test days. See the Saddleback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saddleback.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-08\/saddlebackhandbook23-24_082323_2.pdf\">student handbook<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saddleback.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-08\/saddlebackhandbook23-24_082323_2.pdf\"> <\/a>(page 52) for further information about cheating and plagiarism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Plagiarism:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Longman Dictionary of American English, plagiarism is \u201cto take someone else\u2019s words, ideas, etc. and copy them, pretending that they are your own.\u201d (p. 606) Do<strong><em> not<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>plagiarize<\/em><\/strong> in this class. You may be asked to rewrite the assignment in your own words. You can receive an \u201cF\u201d on the assignment and possibly in this class. If you are using someone else\u2019s ideas, words, etc., then you need to utilize the appropriate citation. There will be no cheating of any kind. If you have any questions about cheating or plagiarism, please see me as soon as possible. DSP&amp;S (Disabled Students\u2019 Programs &amp; Services) is available in SSC 113 and the phone number is (949) 582-4885.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unauthorized Recordings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Other than Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) directed auxiliary aids and academic accommodations, the use of any electronic listening or recording device in any classroom is prohibited without the explicit prior consent of the instructor (CA Ed Code Sec. 78907). It is in violation of South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) policies (BP 5401 &amp; AR 5401) which address student conduct. It is also a crime to record any private communication, such as a classroom lecture, without the consent of all parties to the conversation (Cal. Penal Code \u00a7 632).
